My administration has raised quality of lives, improve infrastructure – Gov Bello

…as Kogi Poly confers Fellowship awards on Gov, 6 others

The outgoing governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has declared that his eight years reign has raised the quality of life of the citizens and tremendously improved on infrastructural development. .

Governor Bello who scored his administration high, said he will be leaving the state better than how he met it.

He made claim on Saturday at the State Polytechnic, Lokoja, when the Rector of the institution,Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman, conferred him with a fellowship award for outstanding performance on infrastructure and human capital development.

Six other distinguished Nigerians also bagged fellowship of the institution including Alhaji Isa Ozi Salami for sinking several boreholes and for granting scholarship to several students of the Polytechnic.

Similarly, Barr. Umoru Jimoh of IHS, Prof. Idris M. Bugaji of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and Barr. Moses Azubuike Okafor were also conferred with Fellowship of the institution.

The governor who is the visitor of the state owned Polytechnic while speaking at the 4th combined convocation ceremony for 2013/2014-2022/2023 sets of the institution, said part of his achievements is evidenced in the repositioning of the State Polytechnic to meet up with 21st century challenges.

” My achievements can be attested where the State Polytechnic was before my assumption of office, where it is now and what we have repositioned it for the future.

” We have taken time to look into the education sector of our people. We made education a top priority in our thematic agenda.

” We not only improved on the infrastructure and learning in our tertiary institutions, but also expanded our educational institutions so that our children will not travel far to seek for knowledge within four years of our second term “, he said

Bello appreciated the people of Kogi State for their modest contribution by voting for Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo as his successor, assuring that the incoming governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo will consolidate on the achievements made by his administration to move to the next level.

He thanked the Chairman of the Governing Council, staff, students of the Polytechnic for the cooperation his administration enjoyed.

The governor appreciated the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman over his outstanding achievements that has made the State Polytechnic now an institution of envy, worthy of emulation across the world.

” I’m proud of you. I’m indeed very proud of you. I will forever be proud of you”, Bello said while paying glowing tributes to the Rector of institution.

He also commended TETFUND and other donor and financial agencies for their contributions to the repositioning of the Polytechnic.

Earlier in his speech, the Rector, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman , had congratulate Governor Bello for ensuring Alhaji Usman Ododo emerged victorious at the polls, pointing out that his emergence is for the unity and development of the State.

He described his appointment by Gov Bello as an uncommon privilege, thanked him for finding him worthy to the institution and the state.

Dr Usman disclosed that his three points agenda of Reform, Restore and Repair, has returned the lost glory of the Polytechnic to one of envy.

According to the Rector the Kogi State Polytechnic now pride’s itself as an institution committed to graduating students who are employers of labour in the country.

Prof. Yakubu Isa, Chairman Governing Council in his remarks, said the Polytechnic will continue to prioritize academic and personal development of students, promised that the institution will strive to provide the needed tools and resources for students to continue to succeed.

The Governing Council Chairman praised the State Government and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for ensuring rapid development of the Polytechnic.
