More FCT districts to access water soon

More residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, would soon begin to enjoy benefits of adequate water supply, as the FCT Water Board has resolved to increase its services, through increased and uninterrupted supply to the areas yet to access water.

Arising from the first meeting of the year and also the 10th since inauguration of members of the board last week in Abuja, Chairman of the board, Alhaji Alhassan Sule Gwagwa, disclosed that the resolution was based on the increasing need of water by the residents of the FCT.

He said that aside from conforming to President GoodLuck Jonathan’s transformation agenda, the service expansion would also translate to improved revenue generation.

On achieving this objective, therefore, Alhaji Gwagwa confirmed that the board of directors had concluded arrangements to make a presentation to the Minister of the FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed, on the need for a speedy completion of water tanks 1 and 6 and the associated facilities, in order to ensure that the adequate volume of water currently being produced is also equitably distributed.

Meanwhile, board member in charge of Welfare, Alhaji Nasir Galadima, in his summation, said that issues of staff welfare, including incentives and allowances, provision of protective gears and uniforms and the need for conducive office accommodation, especially in area offices, were also resolved.
