Monarch urges Ambode on provision of infrastructure in his community

Oba of Shasha, Babatunde Ogunronbi, has appealed to Lagos state governor, Akinwumi Ambode, to come to the aid of his community in the area of market, health centre, library and construction of roads.

The monarch stated this in an interview with Daily Times on his 5th year coronation anniversary slated for Sunday, May 21st, 2017 at the open field of Nigeria Air Force Base (NAF).

“We shall be grateful if Executive Governor of Lagos State can come to our aid with regards to providing us with adequate socio-economic and cultural facilities. Candidly, governor Ambode is an action governor , he has been very dynamic, forthright, visionary and pro-active leader, he promised the construction of our roads when one of our students from Shasha secondary school won the one-day-Lagos State Governor in the last Spelling Bee competition for secondary school pupils”

He bemoaned the situation whereby dividends of democracy has not been extended to the community in areas of giving slots for employment anytime the State is introducing an employment scheme.s

“Our school here, Shasha Primary School, we call on the governor to help us build fence around it because hoodlums have invaded the place and each time I call on the police to arrest them but they usually release them, and their presence is not good for that environment because they smoke all kinds of things including weeds and defecate everywhere in the school premises”, he said.

According to Oba Ogunronbi, his vision for Shasha is a rebirth of the community as he promised to continue to forge a cordial link with the 21 Community Development Associations, companies, industries, agencies and 32 villages in Shasha kingdom under his traditional authority.

“Due to the heterogeneity nature of Shasha kingdom, I always guarantee mutual relationships with all the ethnic groups that inhabit the community and I enjoy total co-operation from them all”, he said.

He said all hands are on deck to make the 5th coronation anniversary celebrations memorable as donations have been made to charity homes as well as empowerment worth over N1million has been spent on items such as hair dryers, clippers, grinding machines, generators among others to empower the people.

“Highlight of the ceremony would be the unveil of Shasha Economic Empowerment and Development Strategies (SEEDS) will be launched at the grand finale of the anniversary to put Shasha on the path of greatness and give my people a sense of belonging so that they are not left out in the development of the State”, he said.
