Monarch lauds Bishop Ezeofor over development of Ogbaru

The commitment and dedication of the Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Missionary Diocese to physically develop and evangelise the new diocese has elicited rare encomium from prominent Ogbaru personalities including the traditional ruler of Atani, Igwe Augustine Azuka Ngoddy.

The traditional ruler, who expressed joy over the dedication of the Basilica of St. James the great by the Primate, Church of Nigeria, Archbishop Nicholas Okoh, noted that the church has been stagnant in the entire Ogbaru until the Missionary Diocese was created about 10 years ago under the spiritual leadership of a young Bishop, Rev (Dr.) Samuel Ezeofor.

“Look at what he did within 10 years. We the leadership and the people of Atani will find ways to work with him. We will support him. He has vision, goals. He is helping us to develop our communities,” said Igwe Ngonadi.

He noted that apart from building a cathedral, the Diocese under Ezeofor has set up a seminary a school, a gigantic conference centre by women ministry of the Diocese.

Before now, said the traditional ruler, Anglican Church was found in about three communities in Ogbaru but within the last ten years, it has virtually spread to every community in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

He called on other churches in Ogbaru to emulate the hard work of Bishop Ezeofor and his team of workers in the physical development of the church in the area as well as spiritual development of the people.

He also used the opportunity commend the personalities that graced the dedication and the 10th anniversary celebration of the diocese such as Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, the Primate Church of Nigeria, Archbishop Nicholas Okoh.

Speaking to newsmen, the member representing Ogbaru 1 in the State House of Assembly, Sir Somto Udeze, said he was overwhelmed by the springing up of Cathedral and other projects in Atani, Ogbaru.

Udeze said he was also elated that the development in Ogbaru Diocese was taking place in his life time.

The chairman of the Planning Committee for the 10th anniversary of the diocese, Sir Chinedu Ike, said God has been faithful to them as a diocese in the last 10 years, although it has not been easy.
He expressed that they will rededicate themselves to the work of evangelization and development of the diocese in the next decade.
