Mischief-makers are dividing our party, Ondo APC alleges
The governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has alleged that some mischief-makers are planning to further plunge the party into division despite its internal crisis.
The party said those who left the party to work against its victory in other political parties are now coming back to threatening its peace.
It declared that it would no longer tolerate distractions among the wary members who are against the success of the party since it came into power in the state.
Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, Publicity Secretary of the party stated this while addressing journalists on Sunday in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Adesanya alleged that some disgruntled members of the party who defected to the Alliance for Democracy (AD) are now coming back through the back to cause disharmony.
He maintained that the crisis ridden All Progressives Congress in the state would no longer give room for impunity and nepotism.
Adesanya, who was flanked by the party’s Secretary, Rahman Rotimi, and Youth Leader Olutayo Babalola, disclosed that the party leadership was prepared to enforce discipline among its members.
According to him, the wary members who are planning to come back through the back will have to follow the due process and also apologise for working against the party during the 2016 election.
“Information reaching us, however, suggests that some persons who left the All Progressives Congress (APC) to Alliance for Democracy (AD) and other political parties after losing at the primaries and last election are out to perpetrate mischief in this state. It will be interesting to see how they hope to achieve their insidious plans.
“The party under the leadership of Ade Adetimehin as Acting Chairman is poised to consolidate on the political milestone achieved without their input.
“We shall not permit any distraction and the party leadership at the centre also acknowledges the stabilising role efficiently played by his loyal and dedicated leader who has been directed to act as the Acting Chairman of the party.
“It is important we remind all those affected by sudden change in fortune and status, burden with delusion, with regard to the true state of their relevance in the politics of Ondo State generally, that their dubious claim to membership of a party against which they worked during the last gubernatorial election in the state, until they were driven to the depth of infamy is indecorous.
“Granted that everyone possess the inalienable right to associate with persons of his/her ilk to advance parochial cause, decency dictates sobriety, especially when a group of persons claims to belong to the very platform which they rejected publicly for political expediency. Propriety commends genuine penitence to the brash and arrogant.
“While we emphasised with erstwhile visible players, threatened with the possible reality of regression into political oblivion, it is our belief that decorum should form the basis of all acts and claims.
Adesanya said the ruling party has a constitution and will always abide by the rules and regulations guiding its operations in treating its members.
The Daily Times reports that the governing party seems to be passing through its worse moment since it gained power in the state as some key chieftains have been threatening the fold with defection.
The unending crises have not only pitched the members of the ruling party against each other but also threatened its success.
