The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye on Sunday celebrated a low keyed birthday with thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God,(RCCG) Central Parish, Wuse, Abuja and later donated food items, consumables and toiletries to orphans at the Abuja Children’s Home, Karu, Abuja and the IDP Camp in Kuchigoro, also in Abuja.
During the church service, the Senator appreciated God for giving him and his family the divine grace to escape two assassination attempts, one in his home town, Ayetoro Gbede in Ijumu Local Government of Kogi State and the second at the front of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, along Lokoja-Abuja highway.
Apart from physical attempts on his life, Senator Melaye said he survived political assassination attempts which include the allegation that he did not have educational certificate and the initiation of a process to recall him to his constituency orchestrated by his political detractors.

“By June 12, there was another assassination attempt where few people died. They opened fire in the afternoon, they opened fire on me and rounds of bullets were released, yet this same God protected me.
“That barely ended, and then there was the certificate saga that I didn’t go to school. It raged on as if heaven was going to come down, but Jehovah God came down again and justified himself in my life.
“Then followed the agenda to recall me and I said it is God that called me, those who did not call me cannot recall me and God again manifested himself.
In addition, he said it was in the same year 2017 that he was adjudged the Best Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He said for all these, he was determined to show appreciation to God by coming to the sanctuary where he rolled on the ground sang and danced to the glory of God.
The Shepherd of the church, Pastor Emmanuel Ibitayo while joining Senator Melaye in appreciating God said, he did not escape those attacks just because he was smart but by the grace and divine protection of God.
He therefore urged the congregation to pray for the senator and others in government for God’s guidance and protection
