Mayweather, Pacquiao PPV to Cost $99

In a few week to come, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will meet in the fight everyone wanted five years ago, as the Pay Per View (PPV) is expected to cost $99.

HBO and Showtime are deep into negotiations with distributors to carry the May 2 fight.

Under the terms being discussed, the fight will be sold for $99 for a high-definition feed and $89 for standard definition, both of which are record prices.

The previous high was $74.95 for high-definition and $64.95 for standard.

That’s a lot of money! But, then, this is a very big fight. The biggest fight boxing has been able to offer in 18 years—or at least the one with the most mainstream appeal.

Even with the price tag, it’s expected to shatter PPV and gate records, and according to the Associated Press, Floyd Mayweather’s share of the purse could be $180 million.
