May Day: NLC Urges Buhari to Tackle Joblessness
As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to celebrate the May Day, come Friday, May 1, the President-elect, Gen. Muhammandu Buhari (retd) has been charged to tackle the issues of joblessness, hunger, illiteracy and lack of access to education that make Nigerians easy prey to perpetrators of the dastardly acts, when he takes over the leadership of the country on May 29. Deputy president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Chairman of the May Day Committee, Comrade Peters Adeyemi, who gave the charge at the pre-May Day press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, expressed worry that the past leadership of the country failed to take Nigeria out of the monster that has eaten deep into the fabrics of the nation.
He said that no country would boast of meaningful development if its citizenry wallows in poverty, joblessness, illiteracy, lack of electricity, lack of access to education and others.
