Maximize Your Leadership Potentials, Mrs Obiano Urges Women
Wife of the Governor of Anambra State and founder of the NGO, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ), Dr. Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme) has called on women to maximize their leadership potentials by taking advantage of the opportunities available at various levels.
Mrs Obiano made the plea in her message to mark the International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8th March 2019 in Awka, Anambra State.
Her message conveyed in a statement from her Chief Media Officer, Emeka Ozumba, encourages women especially Ndi Nne Anambra not to rest on their oars but rather take advantage of “our cultural bequeath of good values and structures that encourages women to work hard to excel even with the constant changes and demands on their gender as the society evolves.”
Mrs Obiano’s message drew attention to the United Nation’s theme for IWD 2019 celebration #BalanceforBetter which promotes gender balance in the society but advised that it does not translate to a contest between men and women but rather as a vehicle for advocacy on the rights of women in every field of endeavour. She also called for the sustenance of the civil awareness campaign and non-discrimination against women.
Furthermore Mrs Obiano expressed delight that women in Anambra State have been given pride of place with recognitions and responsibilities through appointments to major positions of authority surpassing the 35% national benchmark for affirmative action.
She therefore urged the women not to slack but to take a cue from great women leaders who excelled and use them as a beacon of hope and role models in their undertakings.
She also highlighted the role of her NGO, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ) in encouraging women to excel through training and empowerment which has over 4,400 women and youths as beneficiaries in small scale entrepreneurs.
The objective she restated is to “is to give women opportunity for financial inclusion, boost their self-confidence and assist in the upkeep of their families.”
