MASSOB distances self from violent Pro-Biafra Group

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB-BIM) has dissociated itself from other pro-Biafra group who allegedly involve themselves in violent activities.
Leader of MASSOB- BIM in the north zone of Enugu state, Chief James Ugwu, stated that since the inception of the group in 1999 it has remained non-violent in its agitation for Biafra sovereignty.
He stated this on Monday at the zonal meeting of the group at the Ojukwu Memorial Library in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Ugwu noted that MASSOB-BIM is known for its peaceful disposition even in the face of provocations by law enforcement agencies he denied that his members were among pro-Biafra group that go about terrorizing the public.
“We have remained non-violent in our agitations for Biafra republic since 1999; we have never been involved or arrested for committing any crime.
“And we have no plane or agenda to go into violent agitation, we are not terrorist group, we don’t kidnap,” he said.
“We are peace loving pro-Biafra group that believe that Biafra republic can only be achieved without gunshot or shielding of blood.
“Our national leader Chief Ralph Uwazuruike has gone far with the United Nations (UN) to ensure that Biafra is created out of Nigeria in the shortest possible time,” he said.
Earlier, a member of the elder’s council, Rev. Linus Ihuanya, urged the group to remain resolute and committed to the vision of the national leader.
“I bring you greetings from our leader, Chief Uwazuruike and to express our happy with what I have seen on ground, this shows the level of consciousness and mobilization you have putting into the struggle for the actualization of Biafra.
“I enjoin you to carry on especially with the mobilization you have started assuring you that your sacrifices to the struggle will not go in vain,” he said.
