Marijuana dealers engage Army in gun duel in Ondo

A group of suspected marijuana dealers on Wednesday engaged men of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in gun duel in the early hours of the day in Owo, Owo local government headquarters, Ondo state.
Speaking on the development, the Assistant Director of the Army Public Relations in the brigade, Major Ojo Adelegan, disclosed that Brigade invaded the hoodlums’ hideout after receiving information on the gang’s illegal business.
According to him, the team swiftly moved to the scene and caught the suspected cannabis dealers in the act while they opened fire on the team but said they ran away, bowing to the pressure from the military operatives.
He disclosed that about 63 bags of cannabis were recovered from the suspects’ base while their tents were also destroyed.
He said, “The operation was as a result of a tip of information on the criminal activities of the notorious gang in a hideout in the forest.”

“During the operation, there was an exchange of fire between our own troop and the criminals who later fled as a result of firepower against them.”
“The troop recovered 63 Bags of Indian hemp, 23 expended cartridges and nine unexpended cartridges”.
Adelegan urged the people of the state to always avail the security agencies useful information on any criminal or act of criminality in their environments.
“We want to use this medium to warn criminals to stay away from the state, we will not give room for any illegality and criminal-minded persons in the state,” he stated.
