Man kills friend over stolen wall clock
A 29-year-old labourer, Abu Hurena, was on Monday docked before an Ikeja High Court, Lagos for allegedly stabbing his friend, Umaru Isiaka, to death over a wall clock.
The accused person was charged before Justice Josephine Oyefeso on a one count charge of manslaughter.
He, however, denied the charges.
The state prosecutor, Mr. Y. G. Oshoala, told the court that Hurena, who is a resident of No. 38, Ola Akinbob st, Ijegun, Lagos, committed the crime at about 4am on June 28, 2014.
“On that fateful day, the deceased confronted the defendant, accusing him of stealing a wall clock belonging to one Mallam Suraj.
“The confrontation led to a physical fight during which the accused picked a pair of scissors and stabbed Isiaka twice; once in the chest and once in the stomach,” Oshoala said.
The prosecution further told the court that days after the manslaughter, the allegedly stolen wall clock was found among refuse in an abandoned building.
According to Oshoala, the offence contravened Section 224 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
Justice Josephine Oyefeso adjourned the case to March 20 for trial.
