Man goes into hiding after deadly attack, threats from cultists in Edo

A 33 year-old man, Ehigiator Adekunle John has reportedly gone into hiding to escape being killed by suspected dare devil cultists in the Sapele Road axis of Benin City who threatened to kill him.

The vengeful cultists want Ehigiator Adekunle John dead to pay for the deadly assault and gruesome killing of members of a rival cult group by his elder brother Ehigiator Osasu, a prominent leader of a Mafia group known as Vikings aka R.Baggar and have made several attempts to get him down.

Osasu whose irresponsible life style has put the life of his family members at great risk had reportedly killed many young boys and members of Aye Cult (Black axe) who are now out to destroy him and his family.

The cultists armed with dangerous weapons including guns, battle axes and liquid substances suspected to be raw acid were said to have invaded his father’s home on September 27, 2023 in a gestapo manner shooting sporadically and abducted Mrs Felicia Ehigiator after destroying many things in the house.

Ehigiator Adekunle John, eye witnesses said had just left the premises when the cultists came calling. He was later to be warned not to return home as the felons had vowed to smoke him out of his hiding place and have him killed for the sins of his ‘wicked’ brother Osasu.

“A close friend who witnessed the attack called Ehigiator Adekunle John on phone not to come back home because their house was invaded by six men who belong to a deadly cult group Aye (Black Axe), who allegedly lost a member at battle who is also a fashion designer who lived down their street

“Information reaching John was that his elder brother EHIGIATOR OSASU and his gang members who have have now disappeared from the area killed the young man.

“Ehigiator Adekunle John needs to be careful because this was the same way his elder brother caused the trouble that consumed his father Mr Patrick Ehigiator in 2011 and now they have taken Mrs Felicia hostage”, said a neighbor who didn’t want his name mentioned.

Armed gangs including cultists in their devious battles for supremacy, attack relatives of their primary targets when they become elusive. The same fate befall informants who give security agencies information leading to the arrest of criminal gangs.

Incidencies of relatives of die hard cultists paying the supreme price are common place in Nigeria where the enfrontory of armed gangs has assumed a frightening dimension with frequent attacks on security formations.

As a result, complaints made to the police against such gangs are often treated with levity as that was the fate Ehigiator Adekunle John’s report about threats to his life and the adoption of his mother Felicia, suffered with no serious efforts made to arrest the culprits.
