Man caught for beheading woman in farm in A/Ibom
Tragedy struck at Oku Abak community in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state on Saturday as a woman identified as Eka Sammy was allegedly beheaded in her farm and the head dumped in front of her house the evening of same day.

It was gathered that the victim fondly called ‘Mma Iko Mbakara’ was ambushed by a young man from Delta state in her farm while harvesting cassava.

Sources said that the young man lives in Oku Abak, but trailed her to the farm where he executed his eveil plans.
An eyewitness, Augustine Ekwere said the suspect was caught by youths when he dumped the victim’s head in front of her house. Thereafter, the youths stripped him naked before the suspects took the youths to the farm where the body of the deceased was found.
“The youths of the village caught him and called on the police after their own assessment. The police arrested him and his accomplice,” Ekwere narrated.
According to the eyewitness, the young man confessed to the crime at Abak police station, saying that a prophetess contracted him for a fee of N150, 000 to bring a human head for rituals.
Ekwere said that although, the suspect did not mention the name of the prophetess, he was already paid by the prophetess before he carried out the murder.
“At the police station, the suspect is said to have confessed beheading the woman in the farm because he was paid N150, 000 by a prophetess to do so,” he added.
In a telephone interview, the Police Public Relations Officer in Akwa Ibom state, Nnudam Frederick confirmed the incident and commended the youths of Oku Abak for joining the police to arrest the suspects.
“I am in the picture. A woman was beheaded in the farm yesterday while working there. Some youths joined the police to comb the bush and some suspects were arrested,” he confirmed.
Frederick, who did not mention the number of suspects arrested, disclosed that the matter is under investigation, adding that “when I say some suspects have been arrested, it means more than one person has been arrested. But as I speak with you, the matter is under investigation.”
