Man allegedly murders cyclist in Lagos

The police in Lagos is currently investigating the actual cause of the death of one Rasaki Bashiru at Okajire Street, Ikorodu Lagos.
Although, not much has been disclosed about the identity of the deceased, information had it that on March 21 2017, at about 10:50pm, Rasaki who is a motorbike operator and resident of the said area picked one Taoreed Ebuolurun from the bustop to the same Street.
The journey however went sour when an argument ensued between the two and Taoreed was alleged to have engaged Rasaki in a fight which took the latter’s life.
According to an eye witness Chima Uka, who spoke to our correspondent, Taoreed had insisted that the deceased take him farther than agreed. He said, ” That night, I had closed late from work and was too tired to do any serious cooking. So I came out to patronize a canteen close to my house. I has just finished eating when I saw two people arguing over what I don’t know.
” The argument escalated and those of us around rushed to the scene. I saw one man, whose name was later given as Taoreed pushing another who is Rasaki. We asked what the matter was and the cyclist told us that Taoreed had told him he was going to Okajire bustop and that on getting there, he has insisted he take him further for same fee of N200.
“The refusal of the cyclist was what angered Taoreed who then said he wouldn’t give him a dine. This made Rasaki furious. Buy just for peace to reign, one of the men who has continued me out to settle the dispute, gave Rasaki the N200 and asked him to go. Taoreed who was satisfied with the action, threw a punch at Rasaki on the neck. Immediately, Rasaki fell down and said ‘is this the way you will pay me for bringing you this far’ then he gave up.
“we immediately held Taoreed who stood in shock not believe even that the cyclist was dead. We called policemen from Igbogbo police division who took the corpse and also arrested Taoreed.”
Telling his own side of the story, Taoreed who is a local government ticketer at Koshofe local government area denied hitting the deceased.
The father of three who is 36 year old said” yes I did board his bike that night and he charged me N200 to my destination. It was surprising when he got to a junction and told me he wasn’t going any further. I challenged him to take me to where I had told him but he refused. So I threatened not to pay him I’d he doesn’t take me to my destination. While we were arguing, he started turning his bike round and round and he fell, started shaking and then he stopped breathing. I didn’t touch him as alleged. People around just started d shouting that I have killed someone and handed me over to the police. I am innocent and didn’t kill him.”He concluded.
Although a police source at the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department, Panti Yaba where the case has been transferred to said only an autopsy can determine the actual cause of the death of the victim.
The source however said investigations has commenced into the matter and upon completion will be charged to court accordingly.
