Makinde Reiterate Commitment to Tackle Poverty

Oyo State Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate for the 11th April election, Seyi Makinde has reiterated his commitment to poverty eradication as he resumed the electioneering campaign tour of the local government councils in the state yesterday.

At Orogun community in ward eight of Akinyele Local Government area of the state where he led other chieftains and candidates of the party to kick off the campaign, he maintained that the emancipation of the people of the state could not be allowed to be further delayed.

He said the insinuation in some quarters that he was out to prepare the ground ahead of 2019 contest was misnomer, stressing that the urge in him to use his God-given talent to bail out the people from the shackle of poverty was not for fun.

The SDP candidate, who announced undisclosed amount of money for the upgrading of the Maternity Centre to Community Health Centre in the Orogun community of the Akinyele LG was full of appreciation to the people for trooping out to meet him and his entourage.

At Eleyele International Market in Ibadan North-West Local Government, Makinde assured the traders of the support of his government if voted in on the 11th of April with a promise that, unlike the outgoing administration in the state, his would not demolish shops.

He also promised the traders a borehole immediately he’s sworn-in as the governor of the state, asking the traders to ensure the collection of their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) by utilizing the extension opportunity granted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Chairman of Orogun Landlords Association in Ward eight, Akinyele LG, Alfred Olatunji Ogunsola, who spoke on behalf of the community congratulated Makinde for his attributes as a humble, large-hearted, amiable and likeable personality, which he said had made him to be acceptable by all.

“Unlike others, here is a person, who is not frivolous, who will not make unfulfilled promise from the little we have known of him and all these have placed him in a very good stead for the exalted seat that there’s no place his name is mentioned that people don’t rejoice ahead of his election”, he added.

From Eleyele roundabout, the campaign train moved through Eleyele International Market through TCTC-Idi-Ishin-NIHORT-Forestry, Onireke Road-School for the Deaf, Afonta Community, Queen’s Cinema, Ekotedo, Dugbe Alawo, Ogunpa, Feleye, Idikan, Ayeye, Opopo, Agbaje Market and terminated at Ibikunle.

All through the routes, the message by Makinde was the same that he would run an administration with human face with sense of sincerity and honesty of purpose.
