Major General will forever be attached to Buhari’s name – Aides

President Muhammadu Buharis aides have started reacting to the decision taken by one of Nigeria newspaper house, the Punch to start adding Major General to the president’s name as a protest to what they call lawlessness of his government.

The Punch said the President is operating as if the country is under a military regime.

Mr Femi Adesina, Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media & Publicity on his Twitter handle said that if you decide to call President Buhari (him) Major General, he wasn’t dashed the rank, he earned it.

Adesina also said that the Punch was not completely out of order if they call President Buhari Major General according to him it is a fact that doing so is even another testimony to press freedom in Nigeria.

Also speaking on the same issue Bashir Ahmad, Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media said: ‘Major General’ will forever be attached to his name, he earned it. Calling him that is another form of RESPECT and it doesn’t change the fact that Muhammadu Buhari is President, Federal Republic of Nigeria till 2023. Fun fact: huge numbers of his supporters voted the General.

Before, during and after 2019 election, PDP and its presidential candidate had called the President ‘Major General Buhari’ thousands times and it didn’t stop Nigerians from trusting and giving their President another four years mandate. Calling him that will NEVER be a bad thing.
