LUTH Gets New CMD, DA

The Federal Government has approved the appointment of Prof Christopher Bode as the new Chief Medical Director of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

The appointment is effective from March 25, 2015.

Also, Mr. Babajide Lukman Grillo was appointed Director of Administration/Secretary to the Management Board of LUTH.

Bode, aged 59, is a renowned Paediatric Surgeon, from Ejigbo, Osun State. He obtained his MBCHB from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife in 1980 and trained as a surgeon in LUTH from 1982-1990.

Bode joined the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos in November 1992 as a lecturer and was Honorary Consultant Paediatric Surgeon to LUTH, with special interest in neonatal oesophageal surgery and paediatric penile reconstruction.

He rose to become Professor of Surgery in 2010 and served LUTH as SERVICOM Nodal Officer from 2008-2012 and as Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee from 2012-14. Bode was Secretary General of the West African College of Surgeons from 2001-2007 and Treasurer, Pan African Association of Surgeons (PAAS) among others.

Grillo, 51, an alumnus of the University of Lagos, where he graduated in Sociology in 1989, has Masters degrees in Industrial Sociology, Public Administration and Business Administration. He is a member of many professional associations and has over 24 years of post-M.Sc experience as a seasoned administrator.

Grillo had served in various management and board committees at the LUTH and was appointed Acting Director of Administration on September 30, 2014 while his appointment as substantive Director of Administration was confirmed March 30, 2015.
