LP will dislodge APC from Aso Rock, Lagos in 2019- says Lagos Chairman

The acting State Executive Council, ‎of the Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party, (LP), ‎has vowed to dislodge President Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, both of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and all others in elective positions in the 2019 general elections.

The acting state Chairman of LP, Chief Sam Okpala who said this while presenting report of the affairs of LP in the state and the assessment tour of the state by the National Vice Chairman, Al-Basiru Apapa, at the weekend, charged members of the executive and members to work towards chasing out the ruling APC in the state.

Opala said the goal was achievable if every member of the party works hard for victory, noting that the executive took it upon itself to reposition the party by giving it back to the labour unions, civil society groups, market men and women who are partnering with them in their reposition drive.

“We want to announce to the whole world that the Labour Party is back fully, reloaded to take up her rightful position in the electoral process of Nigeria and Lagos State chapter in particular.

“In other words, we are using this to serve the occupants of Aso Villa and Alausa, Lagos Government State House, quit notices effective May, 2019.

“The state executive committee of the party is working towards having, the statutory congresses of the party when all these programmes and pending actions are finalised. We are soliciting for the support of various organs of the party, as we strive to reposition our party in Nigeria in general and Lagos in particular,” he said.

Opala added that they are currently remobilising their teaming members in all the wards, local governments and senatorial zones of the state towards the realisation of the feat.

He said the chapter aligns with the actions and resolutions taken during the convention, saying they are supportive of the national chairman of the party, Dr. Mike Omotosho.

Opala also solicited for support from the national leadership of the party to immediately tackle challenges facing the party in Lagos State.

In his address, Apapa, stressed the need to have a true change in Nigeria polity and political space.

“There is the need for us (Nigerians) to send APC packing from Aso Rock, Abuja and Alausa, Ikeja, enough of status quo that is not progressive but only promotes backwardness and negative change. LP is coming and they must get ready to leave the stage the manner PDP left the stage,” Apapa said.

He described the present crops of politicians as “recycled products” that should be done away with in 2019.

Also, Felix Nwenike, South West Zonal Chairman, said the party wanted to give the real dividends of democracy back to the people.

“We are coming with the support of the masses this time around, as a populist movement we have the masses behind us. Politics is a game of number.

We will be moving from door to door to explain to the people that only LP can bring about desired change and result, APC, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has failed and the real change is now.

There is going to be a total change where unemployment, corruption, poverty, will be reduced to barest minimum,” Nwenike said.
