Lockdown: Wike leads Rivers security council on monitoring tour

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state at the weekend led members of the state security council to monitor the level of compliance with the state government’s lockdown directive in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas.

The governor and the service commanders moved from Fruit Garden Market to New GRA before heading to Eliozu and Rumuokoro.
Governor Wike and the service commanders later proceeded to Rumukurushi to monitor the compliance level.
Governor Wike stepped down at these locations and held on-the-spot meetings with the service commanders.

The governor locked down the affected areas in reaction to the disregard to his order to shut down markets in the state to prevent community spread of the coronavirus.
