Lockdown: Rep donates N15m palliatives to Osun COVID-19 c’ttee

House of Representatives member, Rep. Wole Oke (PDP-Osun) has donated 600 bags of rice to the Osun state government’s COVID-19 Relief Committee to cushion the effects of the lockdown in the state.

In a statement on Thursday in Abuja, Rep. Oke said that the palliatives, worth N15 million, should be distributed to everyone irrespective of the political party, creed or tribe.
Rep. Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun, urged Nigerians not to panic.
“On behalf of myself and family, we are donating rice worth N15 million to the Osun state COVID-19 Relief Committee for onward distribution to the good people of the state irrespective of religion or political affiliations.
“This is not the time to play politics. As of today, we have a common problem at hand, which is ravaging the country and indeed the entire world, and we must unite to confront it collectively,’’ the lawmaker stated.
He said that he was a loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the core, but that this is not the time to play politics.
“It is after the victory over the deadly coronavirus scourge that we can start to think of politics again.
“I have to think on how I can contribute my little quota for the well-being of my people,’’ the lawmaker stated.
Rep. Oke called for strict observance of all necessary precautionary instructions from relevant government agencies and health experts to defeat the deadly coronavirus.

He commented Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola for setting up the committee at this critical period and chargedthe committee to be fair and just in the management of the palliatives.
The lawmaker also called on public-spirited individuals and organisations to contribute generously to the relief funds to complement government’s efforts at fighting the pandemic.
