Linkage tops week’s gainers’ list

Linkage Assurance Plc has emerged highest price gainers in the sector during the week,becoming the third highest price gainers among all the equities listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE)
For the week ended Friday, 11TH August, 2017, Linkage Assurance gained 27.12 per cent or N0.6, to close trading for the week at N0.75 per share, having opened trade at N0.59 per share.
Linkage, the week’s top gainer was the only insurance firm in the top 10 gainers table of the exchange as it dwarfed other eight top gainers that spread across other sectors of the market.
The cvompany followed C&1 Leasing, emerged as the week’s top gainers with 44.93 per cent or N0.31 growth in its equity price for the week , closing trade at N1.00 per share. The company opened trade for the week at N0.69 per share.
Dangote Sugar was the second highest gainer for the week with N4.05 or 37.29 per cent growth in its equity price, closing trade at N14.91 per share. Dangote Sugar opened trade for the week at N10.86 per share.
Meanwhile, commitment by insurance companies towards meeting the post- listing rules is gathering momentum as six firms filed their quarterly and annual results with the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) for the week ended August 11, 2017.
Prestige Insurance filed its second quarter periodic result for the period ended June 30, 2017. The result showed growth in the company’s key performance measuring indices and lifted confidence of investors in the firm.
Prestige Insurance plc also delivered its second quarter 2017 result with the NSE during the week, while Standard Alliance Insurance also filled its Q2 2017 result with the NSE during the week.
The NSE’s weekly report also showed that Law Union and Rock Insurance, and African Alliance Insurance respectively, filed their Q2 2017 unaudited results for the period ended June 30 2017.
During the week, the much awaited 2016 audited result of the Great Nigerian Insurance Company was followed with the NSE; this was followed with the delivery of the company’s Q1 2017 for the period ended March, 2017.
