LCDA will return, pupils will stop paying tax, says Fayemi

The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi has assured Ekiti people that Local Council Development Authority (LCDA), created by him during his first tenure but abrogated by the present government will be restored to bring government closer to the people.

He also assured that the tax imposed on primary school pupils in the state by the current Governor Ayodele Fayose government will be abolished.

Fayemi who made the declaration during the weekend in Ado Ekiti while attending to questions and demands from the people across the state at a progranme tagged: community consultative forum with community leaders initiated during his first tenure in office in a bid to involve the grassroots people in governance.

He assured the people of better life as “we will return the LCDA like before and you will be the person in charge of it. You will be appointed to man it and with this governance will be closer to you will be involved in governance.”

The former minister who also expressed sadness at “the hardship brought upon parents and people by the present Fayose PDP government who imposed tax on the pupils in primary school and students of secondary schools in the state” assured Ekiti people that all these will be reversed by his government.

According to him, sufferings unleashed by Fayose include demolition of houses without compensation, cancellation of social security and empowerment programmes, such as micro-credit scheme, and introduction of obnoxious taxes, including taxation of school pupils.

While urging the people to come out enmass to vote for him on July 14 election so that his promises for the people can be fulfilled, Fayemi assures indigenes and residents of Ekiti state to expect the needed and desired development in the state if voted for.

Fayemi who equally assured the representative of the Igbos that attended the meeting of more place in his government, however urged them to vote for him enmass as he assured new settlement for the Igbo people who were affected by the urban renewal programme of Fayose government without compensation.
