Lawmakers, Fubara honour late wife of Rep Abiante at Andoni burial

A  member of the House of Representatives,  Awaji-Inombek Abiante, Saturday buried his wife, Agnes Nwakaego Abiante, at his family compound in Ukwa Community, Ngo Urban, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The burial attracted a large crowd, including Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, members of the National Assembly, community leaders, women groups and associates of the bereaved family.
Abiante, who represents Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro Federal Constituency, described his late wife as a pillar of strength whose support shaped his family life and public service.
“I was married to an angel in human form,” he said, describing her as humble, kind, philanthropic and committed to family and faith.
The lawmaker said her death had reinforced the fleeting nature of life, stressing that power, wealth and status were ultimately meaningless.
He cautioned leaders against abusing authority and urged those in positions of responsibility to govern with humility and fear of God.
Governor Fubara joined other dignitaries in paying last respects, while lawmakers described the late Agnes Abiante as widely loved within and beyond her community.
Speaking on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, Rep. Rodney Ambaiowei said the deceased was appreciated wherever she was known.
He urged women to continue supporting their husbands, describing such support as vital to family stability.
The Minority Leader of the House, Ali Isa JC, said the late Agnes was a pillar not only to her husband but also to the wider community.
The Association of Wives of Lawmakers described her as an active member and former provost of the association.
Speaking for the group, Dame Akpama recalled her discipline, cheerfulness and dedication, describing her death as a loss on earth but a gain in heaven.
In his sermon, Pastor David Fubara of the Redeemed Christian Church of God urged mourners to reflect on life, death and eternity.
He described the deceased as a woman of honour whose life reflected the virtues of Proverbs 31.
