Lawmaker admonishes Christians on surviving perilous times

A lawmaker at the National Assembly, Hon. Danasabe Charles Hosea, has called on Christian worshippers all over the world to always insist in offering effective and persistent prayers to God Almighty saying such will proffer enabling ways of surviving perilous times.

Hosea, who represents the people of Gashaka, Kurmi and Sardauna Federal Constituency of Taraba state at the Federal House of Representatives, gave the admonition in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital.

The lawmaker, who was the Guest Speaker at a Sunday Church service held at the Christian Reformed Church of Nigeria (CRCN), Nukkai in Jalingo spoke on the topic, “Surviving Perilous Times.”

Describing Perilous Times as a period of examination, signs of end time, happenings and occurence of strange things, intense difficulty, hardship, abject poverty, life of hopelessness and unimaginable situations that befall man, the lawmaker quoted Second Timothy, Chapter 3, verse 1- 3 to buttress his facts.

The man of God averred that with the present economgame epresion globally is a strong indication that the long prophesied Last Days, End Time and/or Perilous Times is already here.

D.C. Hosea said, government both past and present have introduced several measures like the Green Revolution, Operation Feed the Nation (OFN), Structural Adjustment Program (SAP), Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) YouWin, etc to lessen the sufferings of man but the more the introduction of these measures, the stiffer and harder, the situation becomes.

He also described the level of poverty that has ravaged the economy of man as a result of the presence of Perilous Times the Scripture talked about.

How do we therefore survive Perilous Times the Preacher queried, advising that, Christian brethren should persist in prayer as done by the sick man at the pool of Bethsaida who waited on the Lord for complete one year before Jesus came to his aid (John 5:1-10).

He also said, “Man must stand firm, dwell much on the word of God so as not to be carried away by the whiles of this life”,

” Stop pitying yourself, stop expecting people to pity you, no matter the situation, continue in prayer, don’t lose hope.

“You must be guided by the Holy Spirit, lay aside things that way you down like unforgiving spirit, stay away from sin, focus on Jesus, who never fails.”

In an interview, D.C. Hosea debunked assertions that politics is a dirty game saying, “I beg to disagree that politics is a dirty game, politics is just like any other perception.

“In all sectors of life, there people that are good and there are those that are corrupt.

“Though the view of the people about politics may be that it is dirty, but it is how you practice it that makes it dirty,” he said.
