In a strategic move to address traffic challenges across Lagos, the State Government has created 3,941 new parking slots in key areas of the state.

He said the new parking facilities are designed to accommodate thousands of vehicles, providing residents with safer and more organised alternatives to roadside parking.
The Commissioner emphasised that the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) was established to regulate illegal parking, eliminate obstructions on roadways, deliver a world-class parking system, and promote voluntary compliance with the Lagos State parking policy.
Additionally, 669 parking signages have been installed on major roads to guide motorists to designated zones, enhancing user convenience and contributing to a more organized urban traffic system.
Osiyemi urged all road users to adhere to the designated parking areas to avoid penalties and reiterated the state government’s dedication to improving infrastructure and public services for a better quality of life.
Osiyemi further said that the government has zoned the state’s parking scheme into five key areas: Ikeja, Ikoyi, Lekki, Victoria Island, and Surulere, adding that this strategic zoning is expected to streamline parking operations and minimise congestion caused by unauthorised parking practices.
He mentioned that the state has installed 669 parking signage along major roads to guide motorists to designated parking zones, noting that the signage will contribute to a more structured and user-friendly parking system.
He urged motorists to utilise the designated parking spaces to avoid penalties, reaffirming the government’s commitment to providing infrastructure and services that will enhance the quality of life for all residents of Lagos.
