Landmark varsity donates to Omu-Aran prison, Leprosarium

The management of Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara at weekend donated some foodstuffs, households items and drugs to the inmates of Omu-Aran Medium prison and Oke-Igbala Leprosarium in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
The daily times said that the donations, which also include free medical services, was under the Landmark University Community Development Impact Initiative (LMUCDII).
Pastor Abiodun Okunola, Chairman LMUCDII, said the donation was in recognition of the 63rd birthday celebration of the institution’s Chancellor, Dr David Oyedepo.
He said that the Institution was mindful of the total wellbeing of the inmates, saying that the materials donated were careful selected toward ensuring that the inmates’ welfare remains one of the top priorities.
“The donation, apart from commemorating the 63rd birthday of our Chancellor, Dr David Oyedepo, it is also in line with the Corporate Social Responsibilities of Landmark University to our host communities,” he said.
He praised in particular, the management of Omu-Aran Medium Prison, for ensuring optimum usage of the welding equipment earlier donated to it.
Prof. Adeniyi Olayanju, the institution’s Vice Chancellor, in his remark, reiterated the management resolved to pursue policies and programmes that would add value to the overall wellbeing of the people of the community.
Olayanju who was represented by Dr Agaptus Nworzor, the Dean College of Business and Social Sciences, urged the inmates not to lose hope and in touch with reality outside their present abode.
“God has used Dr. David Oyedepo the Chancellor of Landmark University to touch many lives and that is why we have come here today to celebrate his birthday with you.
Mr. Tolomoleke Ezekiel, Superintendent of Prison, Omu-Aran and Dr Adegoke Oluwajoba, Medical Officer, Oke-Igbala leprosarium, in their separate responses, thanked the institution for the kind gesture.
Other activities executed to mark the birthday anniversary include the commissioning of the 30,000 capacity Automated Layer Pen at the University’s Commercial Farm, as well as the commissioning of the 3.5 KVA Solar Power Inverter System for the electrification of a section of the University Medical Cenre.
