Lalong set to appoint new LG Chair in Plateau, as APC splits

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, is set to reconstitute another set of Management Committee Members in the 17 local government councils, an action which seems to be tearing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state apart.
The level of disenchantment of members of the party in the 17 LGA’s is already gathering momentum.
While the people of Pengana in Bassa LGA, from report, have already abandoned the process of selecting their members within the party, to fill the vacant positions of the Management Committee, the process in Langtang North LGA was greeted with stones that made members take to their heels.
In Jos North, the process witnessed members driving their fists into the faces of each other, from the opposing sides within the party, while in Kanam Local Government Area, the report is no different.
Pundits say that it is who will be recommend as LG chair to be appointed by the governor is the bone of contention tearing the APC apart.
Lalong had earlier told party members to go to their wards and local governments to recommend a candidate to him that will replace the sacked Management Committee Chairman.
However, some members of the People Democratic Party in the state, have said that the governor is afraid to conduct LG election, knowing that the PDP will win all the seats in the 17 local government council, saying that the governor is not popular and should not forget that the PDP made him governor in 2015, haven collapsed it’s structure for him as a result of the fall out with the then governor Jonah Jang who wanted to impose his kinsman as successor.
