Lagos Unveils Ultra-Modern Cardiac, Renal Centre

Lagos State government yesterday commissioned the Multi-Billion Naira Ultra Modern Cardiac and Renal Centre at Gbagada General Hospital.

Speaking during the commissioning of the event, Lagos state commissioner of health, Dr Jide Idris said the idea of setting up the befitting facility is to lessen the burden of non-communicable diseases in the state.

“Proactively, the state government’s infrastructural development plan in the year 2008 was sufficiently comprehensive to address this trend and ensure that residents are able to access care for these morbidities because if it is not adequately managed, it will increase morbidity and mortality indices,” he said.

According to him, the centre will serve the purpose for which it was built and as a training centre.

“The construction of this three-floor centre commenced in 2008 is fully operational today, delivering 24hr service, and seven days a week to the people of Lagos State. The facility is 67 bed compliment is split into 20 beds and 14 high dependency beds, 10 intensive care and recovery unit beds and 23 dialysis patients stations,” he said.

In his remarks, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babatunde Fashola noted that the project was borne out of his commitment to serve the state.

“We open the Gbagada Cardiac and Renal Centre to serve our people as promised.”
