Lagos task force arrests suspected hoodlums over BRT attack

The Lagos State Task Force has arrested a group of suspected hoodlums who carried out a bold attack on a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus along the Orile-Alaba Suru axis of the Badagry Expressway, Lagos, on August 13, 2024.

Speaking in this development, the Task Force Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, who condemned the attack, explained to the newsmen during a media briefing at Oshodi task force office that the incident occurred in broad daylight.

According to him, the incident involved the vandalization of the bus and a violent assault on the passengers, resulting in several being injured and robbed of their valuables.

“The swift response of the Lagos State Taskforce, acting under the directive of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Fayoade Adegoke, led to the immediate arrest of seven individuals connected to the crime.”
The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Lawal (35), Abati Daniel (20), Ilesanmi Kazeem (32), and Muhammed Ali (30), among others, are now in police custody.

He, therefore, assured that the suspects would face the full weight of the law as they are set to be prosecuted for their actions.

CSP Akerele, also, emphasized the commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, particularly in public transportation systems.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of securing the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, a vital route for commuters, and underscores the need for heightened security measures to protect citizens from such criminal activities.
