The Lagos State Police Command have arrested 34 persons posing as members of Peace Corps in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The arrested persons were said to have gathered for a meeting when the police accosted them.
The Commissioner of Police, Ag/CP Edgal Imohimi who disclosed this on Friday, said the group do not have any official correspondent confirming them as a constitutionally approved security agency.
He maintained that the Command would not tolerate such activities by any group to carry out functions or meetings in any part of Lagos state in a bid to misguide members of the public.
It was also learnt that the suspects have been transferred to SCIID, Panti, Yaba and would be charged to the Oshodi Mobile Court on Saturday September 23, 2017 by 09:00am.
Following the arrest, the CP has also instructed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to arrest anyone seen in such uniform or insignia, parading themselves as officials of Peace Corps or holding clandestine meetings, and charge them to court.
He also urged residents to be vigilant at all times and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
