Lagos to intensify compliance with water safety regulations
The Lagos state government says it is determined to ensure that Lagosians have access to clean, potable water and will intensify monitoring and ensure compliance to safety regulations by producers of bottle and sachet (‘pure’) water in the state.
Executive Secretary, Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission, Ahmed Abdullahi, stated this on Wednesday at a Press Conference in Alausa. Others present at the brief were officials of the Lagos State Environmental Agency, Waste Water Management Office and Lagos State Water Corporation.
This is coming on the heels of preparations for this year’s World Water Day, with the theme ‘Waste Water’, which comes up at Excellence Hotel on March 21 and 22, this year.
It will be recalled that March 22 every year is set aside by the United Nations to celebrate and create awareness on issues related to water globally.
According to Abdullahi, the State government is committed to charting a new direction towards achieving the much-needed results for the State, coupled with the Water Law Reforms and recent harmonised Environmental Law of the state recently signed by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
