Lagos East Senatorial District backs Ambode for second term

As part of the build up to the 2019 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC), leaders, chieftains and members in the Lagos East Senatorial Districts have declared support for the Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode to run for a second term in the 2019 gubernatorial election under the umbrella of the party.
However, the leaders in the district have urged members to see the need to shun politics of bitterness, acrimony and embrace peace and unity in order to move the party and the state forward as well as enhance the present tempo of progress and popularity of the party.
The zone under the leadership of Senator Gbenga Ashafa, representing Lagos East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, and Otunba Bushura Alebiosu, the Lagos East Senatorial Leader, made the remarks, at a stakeholders’ meeting and the General Assembly of APC in Lagos East, held at Ikorodu Town hall, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Some of the APC leaders and chieftains at the meeting included, Senator Olorunimbe Mamora, Omoba Sosanya, former deputy governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Sen. Anthony Adefuye, Rt Hon. Joko Pelumi, Lagos East Woman Leader, Mrs. Fausat Gbadebo.
Others in attendance include Hon. Jimi Benson (House of Rep member, Ikorodu Constituency), Princess Aderemi Adebowale, former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, member, Lagos House of Assembly, Hon. Olusegun Oluade, Pa Olorunfemi Bashorun, Chief Lanre Rasaq, Alhaji M. Gafar among others.
They were all unanimous in their support for a second term in office of Ambode in order to continue with the rapid development of infrastructure across the state.
Addressing the stakeholders, Ashafa, who commended the various developmental projects in the state, described, Governor Ambode as the most effective governor in Nigeria.
“It is important to single out Governor Ambode, the foremost ambassador of Lagos East and by all means the most innovative, effective and dynamic governor in Nigeria today.
“The hard work, creativity, innovation and infrastructural development that your administration has brought to bear on Lagos State in general and Lagos East in particular is not only audible to the deaf, it is equally visible to the blind,” Ashafa stated.
He commended the governor on behalf of Lagos East for his dynamism which he said had ensured that the state remains the envy of all other states and the role model in governance, delivery of dividends to the people and strategy.
Ashafa, however, called on all the leaders and members in Lagos East to seize the opportunity of the General Assembly to renew the bonds of love and brotherhood that binds them together and further renew their commitment to the unity of APC in Lagos East and undivided support for the administration of Governor Ambode.
Alebiosu, in his speech, while affirming the support of the district for Ambode’s second term come 2019 election, urged members to stand in unity and faith with the party, APC, irrespective of their differences as well as challenges, and present a common front in the interest of the party and the people of the state
