Lagos council boss briefs stakeholders on new government directives on preventing COVID-19

In line with the determination of the state government to ensure that the easing of the lockdown in the state following the COVID-19 induced lockdown in the state, the Enforcement Team of Eti-Osa East Local Council, set up by the Council Chairman, Hon. Olufunmi Rafiu Olatunji held meetings with the Community Development Committee Executives, Market Leaders, Transport Union leaders and Dredgers Association to map out a way forward.

The invited stakeholders according to a release by the  Media Assistant to the Executive Chairman of the council, Mr. Gbenga Arowolo, were inundated with the new directives from the State Government which encompass the order of running the market, transport among others.

According to the new government policy, Food Markets are to open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays while that of Non-Food Markets to open for business on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between the hours of 9am to 3pm.

Commercial Vehicles and Tricycles is only allowed to carry 60% capacity and every passenger is expected to wear Non-medical nose masks. Their operation is allowed from 6am to 7am. Curfew is in force in the State from 8pm to 6am. Motor Cycle operation is suspended but only allowed to ply hinterland i.e areas that is far away from the expressway and has no operation of Tricycle.

Restaurants, Canteens and Eateries are allowed to open from 9am to 7pm, but must not allow Sitting-in and eat. They are only allowed to do take-aways.

Religious, Recreational Places, Schools, Hotels, Bars, Clubs and Lounges remain closed.

The stakeholders awee enjoined not to only ensure that their subjects are properly enlightened and informed, but must also support the government by blowing whistle on whoever is in the act of violating this safety directives and measures.

The Enforcement Team, led by the Supervisor for Budget, Planning and Statistics, Hon. John Campos, on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Olufunmi Rafiu Olatunji, commended and appreciated all the Stakeholders for their unalloyed support and cooperation that they have given towards ensuring the safety of the people of Eti-Osa and also assured that identity of whistle blower will be protected.

The meeting had in attendance representative of Law Enforcement agents; SP Osabia Sam of the Nigeria Police Force, CS Lekan Akerele of Lagos Neighborhood and Safety Corps, Secretary to the Local Government, Mr saheed Sanni ESQ, Members of the Enforcement Team: Hon. Afinni Olaleye Taiwo, Hon. Eletu Sulaiman, Hon. Nuru Odedina, Hon. Tawa Agbaje, Hon. Fadewe Balogun, Hon. Jibade Sarumi, Mr. Soji Fabuda, Mr. Kunle Ajayi, Hon Sanni Idris Adewale and Mr. Gbenga Arowolo.
