Lagos begins sensitisation on installation of pre-paid meters

The Lagos State Water Corporation (LWC) has begun the sensitization of the public on the installation of pre-paid meters across state.
The sensitization exercise began on last Saturday in areas such as Lekki, Ikoyi, Dolphin, Victoria Island and Alexander.
While briefing the media and the public on the exercise last week, the LWC Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Muminu Badmus, said the reason for the installation of the prepaid meters in the state was to ensure accurate and efficient billing of its customers, in line with the Lagos State Government policy.
The LWC boss reiterated that the sensitization exercise would be extended to other areas such as Magodo, Omole, MKO Abiola Garden, Ikeja, Surulere, Itire, Iwaya, Yaba/Ebute Metta, among others.
“This is a follow-up to the on-going installation of pre-paid meters in the areas mentioned above. LWC staff, contractors and consultants are already on the field for the installation, and customer education on the metering scheme.”
He charged the staff to be committed towards the success of the metering scheme and of good behaviour to the customers and attend to their comments, enquiries and complaints.
Muminu however solicited the support of the public, emphasizing that it was mandatory to install meters in all government properties.
He warned members of the public to desist from tampering with the water meters, as anybody caught in the act shall be prosecuted according to the existing Lagos State laws.
