Labour suspends nationwide strike

The Organised Labour has suspended its nationwide strike, scheduled to begin today. Labour has called the strike to press home workers’ demand for a new national minimum wage of N30,000.
The National Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr Ayuba Wabba, announced the suspension of the strike at the end of the resumed tripartite committee meeting in Abuja which ended at about 12.10 am on Tuesday (today).
Wabba has announced the suspension of the strike on the grounds that the committee had reached a conclusion on the matter.
The Amas Pepple-led Tripartite Committee, which was set up to come up with the new minimum wage, will submit its report to President Muhammadu Buhari today at about 4.15pm.
