Labour Party writes Gov Amosun on construction of 26 model schools

The Ogun State Chapter of Labour Party of Nigeria has written the State Government requesting for full information on the construction of the 26 model schools in the State.
The Party in a letter addressed to the Hon Commissioner for Education and signed by its State Chairman, Comrade Arabambi Abayomi Olufemi and the Secretary, Comrade Akinyemi Oluseyi Jackson, copy of which was made available to our Correspondent requested for the total cost with variations of the 26 model schools.
It could be recalled that in a move designed to change the landscape of education in the state, the Ogun State government about Six years ago commenced the construction of 26 state-of-the-art model schools in all the State constituencies.
Nearly all the 26 Schools said to have cost more than N50billion for its construction have been taken over by overgrown weeds and reptiles and destitute.
But Labour Party in its letter dated 12th October 2018 requested for the total cost of the construction with variations, the number of the Schools under construction, the number completed and names of the Contractors handling each of the Construction.
Other requests of the Party include information on Particulars of the Directors of each of the contracting firm, the amount paid so far to each of the Contractors, the balance due to each of the Contractors and the amount each model School were awarded.
The Party said it hinged its request “in pursuant to all relevant sections of the Freedom of Information act 2011and as a stakeholder in the State.
All efforts by our correspondents to get the Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Mrs Modupe Mujota was unsuccessful, but it was confirmed that the Party sent the letter through a courier service to the Ministry with a proof of delivery.
