Labour enforces compliance in Kano

The call by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) for a nationwide strike which was completely ignored in Kano on Wednesday took a new turn on Thursday.
Officials of the Labour Congress were deployed to some ministries in the state like the Audu Bako Secretariat which harbours various ministries in the state and denied workers entrance into the premises.
Unlike Wednesday, many government schools sent students back home who reported to school, although private owned schools remain opened. Activities at major malls and super markets were observed to be slow as malls and super market refuse to fully open for business. Banks were also shut down by the NLC.
A coalition of some civil societies in the state took to the streets to protest the hike in petrol price as well as the removal of subsidy. The group match which began from Zoo road terminates at Gidan Murtala.
