Kwara senator’s recall: Constituents begin collection of signatures

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kwara South Senatorial district of Kwara State, under the aegis of Kwara South Unity Forum, have commenced the collection of signatures to recall the Senator representing Kwara South Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, over alleged under performance in the Area.
Sometime last year, it would be recall that the group had notified the Independent National Electoral Commissions (INEC) last December, and the National Assembly to start the recall process.
This is just as the constituency office of senator office of senator Ibrahim has said that moves by members of the forum was aimed at damaging the image of the lawmaker and a direct message from the people eyeing the Kwara South senatorial seat comes 2019.
Speaking with journalists in offa, in area of Kwara State, at the commencement of the exercise, secretary of the forum, Ahmed Akorede, said that the group was prepared to garner 53 per cent of required signatures within 90 days stipulated by INEC.
Akorede, who said that the group was not being sponsored or acting script of certain politicians in the state, added that it was insulting to link members of the group to speculated senatorial ambition of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
“Our integrity stands unblemished, as we have come to discover that the current political order in Kwara state and Kwara South is not only retrogressive in characteristics, but it is also highly injurious and detrimental to the sustainability of Kwara State, “he said.
Also speaking with journalists, a member of the constituency office of senator Ibrahim, Mr Abiodun Adegolu, said that the lawmaker would not be deterred or distracted by his political opponents.
“He said, senator Ibrahim remains committed to his legislative function as senator reprsenting Kwara south and no amount of intimidation can make him denounce his relationship with his leader and mentor, Dr Bukola Saraki, because that is the only reason they keep taunting for his purported recall home, “he added.
