Koko community loses N6bn to fire disaster in 2 years

Koko community in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta has lost in the past two years a whooping sum of N6 billion to fire outbreak and disaster which destroyed houses, and properties.

Investigation revealed that the community currently under siege of continued fire outbreak, may be worsened if urgent steps are not taken by the state government to provide necessary five fighting for the people.

Mr. Aduge Okorodudu, the Chairman of the Local Government Council who spoke to our reporter said: “we have no facilities at the fire service station in Koko community, so far we have lost over N6 billion to fire outbreak in the past two years, property razed by the fire outbreak, we need government book state and federal intervention to this problem” disclosing that the firefighting service station in the community had been grounded to a halt for lack of facilities.

He said the community had suffered devastating incidents of fire over the years with no help coming from anywhere, regretting that it was painful to watch over property worth millions of naira destroyed without any support, and therefore appealed to the state government to fast track the provision of the facility to Koko since the firefighting service personnel were grounded without the facility to work with.

Further investigation revealed that most of the houses in the community have either been deserted, or abandoned over fire disaster, while crops in their farm lands have also been razed by what described as mysterious fire” It would be recalled that Koko community had in the past rattled by toxic waste dump; a situation that attracted the world’s attention with the fear of the unknown.
