Kogi youths pass vote of confidence on Bello’s administration

Kogi East Coalition for Good Governance, a youth group, has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Yahaya Bello describing him as a messiah.

Reacting to the allegations levelled against the governor by the Kogi East Elders council (KEEC)on non-performance, corruption and maladministration on Tuesday at a press conference in Lokoja, the group described the Kogi elders as saboteurs and liabilities to the state.

Spokesperson of the group, Mr. Ishaka Onu Alfred condemned the elders for stagnating the progress of the state since its creation 25 years ago.

The youth group who accused their elders of being responsible forthe woes faced by the people of the state, challenged them to point to any meaningful contribution they have made .

To buttress their claim of sabotaging the state, the group said ” Alhaji Ahmadu Ali and some of his co-travellers in KEEC were the same people who used their powers as chieftains of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party to cut short the efforts of the late Prince Abubakar Audu to develop Kogi State.

They deployed their federal might and bottomless pockets to recruit attack dogs against him until he lost his second term bid and Kogi state lost her best chance of leaping in to the future developmentally before the coming of Governor Yahaya Bello “.

They alleged further that the elders in their desperation, sold outright lies against the late Prince Abubakar Audu to the populace before ousting him from office through the controversial 2003 election.

The youths also accused the eldets of deliberately installing their lackeys like former governors Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada who stalled the development of the state for 13 years.

According to Alfred, the 13 years of plundering of the state, the Kogi East elders kept silent as they were collaborators and major beneficiaries of the loot.

While expressing confidence in the Bello administration the youths also appealed to the people of Kogi East and the entire Kogi state to ignore the ranting of the so called elders whose major trades are selfishness, greed and absolutism.

They therefore encouraged the governor to continue his well-intended work to sanitize the polity so as to enshrine a new social order.

They urged him to remain focused and ignore the ranting of the frustrated elders who have held the state captive before posterity foist him on governance.
