Klinsmann steps down as Hertha Berlin coach

Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin has confirmed manager Jurgen Klinsmann has resigned from his head coach position.
A statement on the club’s website read: “Jurgen Klinsmann has resigned as the head coach of Hertha Berlin with immediate effect. He informed the club (about his decision) on Tuesday. Alexander Nouri with the current coaching team will take over the managing of Hertha Berlin’s first team.

“‘We were surprised by this development this morning. Especially after the trusting collaboration regarding player transfers during the winter transfer window which was intense for Hertha Berlin, and there were no signs of this. We were informed about these further developments in given time’ says Hertha Berlin general manager Michael Preetz.”
He posted on his official Facebook page earlier in the day confirming his resignation.

“Especially in the relegation fight, unity, cohesion and focus on the essentials are the most important elements. If they are not guaranteed, I can’t take advantage of my potential as a manager, and can’t live up to my responsibilities either.”
“That’s why after a long deliberation, I have decided to step down from my position as the head coach of Hertha Berlin, and retreat myself back to my original long-term task as a supervisory board member.”
The 55-year-old has been in charge of Hertha Berlin since November.
