Kidnapping: Lawyer Accuses Ekiti Police of Silence

A Human Right Activist Lawyer, Morakinyo Ogele has picketed the Nigeria Police Force, in Ekiti State, over the rising kidnapping cases of innocent citizens in the state.
In a statement issued to Journalists, on Monday, in Akure, the Ondo state capital,Ogele accused the Police of continuous silence, in seeking urgent action to stem the activities of the murderous kidnappers in the state.
Already, the activist lawyer had issued a 7-day ultimatum to Police in the state to uncover and arrest the kidnappers and their godfathers in the Ekiti state.
Ogele wondered why the Police in Ekiti state have allegedly kept mute over the kidnapping cases in the state.
“Why Police are remaining silent in this type of situation is unknown, when prominent of Ekiti indigenes are kidnapped and carried to unknown place is shoulded in secracy”
“It was learnt that some of these criminals are within and are feeding fat within the Ekiti State House of Assembly complex”. he said.
He noted that the Police in the state has not being doing enough to protect the lives of Ekiti people and questioned why no one has been arrested in connection with the crime.
“Ekiti State Police Command should tell the world why they have not arrested any of these kidnappers or preventing their operations from kidnapping innocent citizens.
“The rate at which kidnappers are operating in Ekiti State with impunity without police intervention is embarrassing. It is surprising that the activities of these criminal minded persons are flourishing on daily basis”.
The lawyer called on the people of Ekiti state to rise up against the impunity being perpetrated by the Police, and also threatened to compel the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase to change all the officers in the state.
“We have been taken back to a state of nature or banana republic. I am calling on the people of Ekiti State indigenes, to rise up and get rid of these criminals in Ekiti state presently and to be security conscious.
“Those in authority should not forget that when you intimidate people beyond reasonable point, then they are calling for serious revolution which will be hatched from cellar”, the statement read.
