Kidnappers in SARS uniform abduct Benin national in Imo

Kidnappers operating in Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) uniforms last Saturday night abducted one Adlani Bernadin Hounso, a national of Benin Republic.

Hounso is a staff of Songhai Nigeria Limited and is based at the company’s site in Irete, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo state.

Report has it that at about 9 pm on Saturday, the victim was driving out from the Suncity Hotel, Owerri and heading in the Port- Harcourt Road he car was blocked by four armed men in an ash coloured Lexus jeep, who were dressed in the attire of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) at the House of Assembly junction.

The kidnappers reportedly disembarked from their vehicle before dragging their victim out, took his cell phones and forced him into their vehicle and zoomed off to an unknown destination.

An eyewitness said the officers at the New Owerri Police Division few metres away from the scene of the incident were alerted and the officers came and towed the victim’s abandoned vehicle to their station.

The state police spokesman, Orlando Ikeokwu, who confirmed the incident, said that the police have recovered the abandoned Toyota Highlander jeep of the victim, but that nobody has officially reported the incident.

“It is true and we have recovered the victim’s Toyota Highlander jeep, but till now, nobody has come to make an official report,” he retorted.
