KCCN trains Nigerian Chefs on Korean cooking demo

As parts of efforts to strengthen the bilateral ties between Nigeria and the Republic of Korea, the Korean Culture Center of Nigeria (KCCN) has taken selected members of Association of Professional Chefs in Nigeria (APCN), on some Korean cooking demonstration.

This, according to the organisers, would help to improve as well as add to their varieties of inter-continental cuisines.

The eight selected members of the APCN learned more about Korean cuisine and how to prepare at least two of the country’s most popular dishes including, Spicy Braised Chicken and Corn Cheese.

Speaking shortly after the demonstrations, the KCCN Director who was represented by the Manager of Cultural Event at KCCN, Hayoung Yu, said the event is aimed at promoting the Korean Culture amongst Nigerians.

“This event is to promote Korean dishes in Nigeria and how to cook the them. So, this time, we made Korean spicy braised chicken. Many Koreans eat Spicy Braised Chicken with Com Cheese.

“This is our first collaboration with Association of Professional Chefs in Nigeria (APCN), and we are happy to promote Korean dishes among Nigerians through APCN. With this, Nigeria will know more about Korean dishes.

“This exercise/experience will help develop them to know more about Korean food.”

In her remarks, the KCCN Exhibition Administrator, Sharon Pwavi-Babale said, the aim of the collaboration with the Nigerian Chefs primarily, was to expose Nigerians to Korean dishes.

“We hope that this experience will help promote Korean dishes to APCN to be able to recreate it in their various businesses.”

An excited Chef who participated in the cooking demonstration Ruth Ibrahim said: “I have added another recipe to my intercontinental dishes. Korean food is interesting.

“This is a nice idea; it will be helpful and add value to every other association.”

Also, a member of APCN, Chef Godfrey Mario, applauded the Korean Cultural Center of Nigeria for the opportunity, and pledged to extend the knowledge received here to other members of the association.

“We are here representing APCN, KCCN organized a cooking demo, which cut across spicy Braised chicken and Com Cheese. I think this is going to be an addition to part of what we do under intercontinental dishes.

“As an association, we shall do our best to extend this training and learning to every other member who has not been opportune to be here.”
