The Kano state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has threatened to embark on a 14 -day warning strike over the slashing of workers’ salaries by the state government.
Addressing journalists on Wednesday, in Kano, NLC Chairman, Comrade Kabiru Minjibir, said the state government has violated the existing minimum wage law, which is a product of a tripartite agreement and signed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Comrade Minjibir, expressed shock that the state government deducted workers’ salary without consulting the union.

According to him, the NLC has vehemently rejected any plan by Kano state government to continue deducting workers salary in subsequent months on claims of fighting COVID-19.
The NLC in a communique signed by 13 workers union chairmen, said the union would embark on a warning strike failure by Kano state government to meet its demand within 14 working days effective from today.
