The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Kano State chapter, has condemned the killing of one of its member Mrs. Bridget Agbahiwe, 74, who hailed from Orodo Community, Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo State, by some miscreants in Kano for allegedly blaspheming against the Prophet of Islam.
Honourable Iwuoha Okechukwu Fortune, Chairman Igbo Community Association (ICA), Kano caretaker committee, described the incidence as a sad one at a time people in Kano were beginning to put behind them incidences that were religiously motivated.
He called on the state government and security agencies not to relent in their efforts to arrest all those who participated in the killing and try them according to the provision of the Nigerian law, and that their trial should be done openly, so that it would serve as a deterrent to others, who might be thinking of engaging in such despicable act.
Iwuoha further stated that the recent incidence in Kano showed clearly that more needed to be done on the part of the state government, in order to protect the life and property of the Igbo people, as well as other minor tribes, in the state.
