Kano decried blockage of water ways

Kano state commissioner of environment, Haruna Aliyu Makoda has expressed displeasure over blockage of water ways by some residents of the state.

Represented by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Halilu Baba Dantiye, he observed that many water ways have been blocked by either refuse dump or construction of illegal structures, describing the situation as unacceptable and dangerous to residents and business premises of such areas.

He stressed that the ministry would make necessary suggestions to the state government to demolish such illegal structures so as to avoid destruction of lives and properties as a result of flood.

He made this known during the end of the month sanitation exercise inspection.
