Kalu takes Tinubu’s unity message to APC stakeholders, urges Igbo to ‘Invest Votes’
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu has reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s call for unity and reconciliation within the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging Igbo people to be strategic in their political choices and “invest their votes” for greater political relevance.
Kalu spoke Monday during courtesy visits to key APC leaders and elder statesmen across the three senatorial zones of Abia State, Abia North, Central and South, aimed at strengthening party structures and promoting cohesion.
He met with former Abia State Governor and ex-Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu; Senator John Bob Nwannunu and APC chieftain, Sir Mac Wabara.
He said the President’s message was clear, party leaders must put aside divisions, strengthen internal unity and work together to build a stronger party and a stable nation.
On national politics, the Deputy Speaker urged the Igbo to adopt a pragmatic approach, arguing that the shortest route to an Igbo presidency lies in building strong alliances, particularly by supporting the South West.
He stressed that votes should be treated as political investments, not wasted on sentiment.
Kalu reaffirmed his commitment to President Tinubu’s vision, party unity and the advancement of the South East.
He also presented his two year scorecard to stakeholders, inviting open critique in the spirit of accountability.
He charged party leaders to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the APC in Abia State now has the structure and momentum to deliver outright victory for President Tinubu.
Elder statesmen at the meetings commended Kalu’s performance and pledged their support, assuring him of their commitment to strengthening party structures and mobilising grassroots support ahead of 2027.
