Kalu: I’ll smoke out bandits if I were president
 
                                                The Chief Whip of the Senate, former Governor of Abia State, Uzor Kanu has said that there is no reason to negotiate with bandits rather should be smoke out if he is in charge.
The Senator further assured Nigerians that within the next three months bandits will be shocked at what will happen to them in the country.
” I cannot. I will never negotiate with terrorists, they are terrorists, never, I will smoke them out”
Kanu made this known in an interview with journalists after a closed-door meeting with former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida at his Up Hill Residence in Minna.
According to him, “I can not. I will never, never negotiate with terrorists, they are terrorists. I will smoke them out”
Kanu hinted that one of the ways out of the current security quagmire bedeviling the Nation is the replacement of the Service Chiefs carried out by the federal government.
“The way out of the current problem we are facing is what the federal government is doing by replacing Service Chiefs. I am not going to say more. But, the Bandits will be surprised at what will happen to them in three months.”
“Government is planning and Strategizing very well. It building momentum, building the Force to intervene and save the Nigerian people,” stated.
On why he was in the state, the former Abia State Governor said he came to commiserate with the Governor, two former heads of state, and people of Niger State on the kidnaps and other security challenges facing the state.
Also in General Abdulsalam Abubakar residence senator Orji Kalu urged the former heads of state to urgently advised President Muhammadu Buhari on how to get out of the current menace.
Kalu lamented that no place is safe in the country as hoodlums have taken over places noting that the unity of Nigeria is not negotiable while he sympathized with the parents of the students in captivity.
General Abdulsalam Alhaji Abubakar however appreciated the concern and visit of the senator described the situation as very unfortunate as the non-peaceful coexistence of Nigeria is in jeopardy and assured that in no distance term will be overcome.
General Abubakar stressed that there is strength in Nigerian diversity and all hands must be on deck to enhance its peace and unity, he, therefore, appealed to Non-Governmental Organizations to mobilized citizens in building peace so as to encourage investors into the country.
At the Emirs palace in Minna, Kalu called on the traditional rulers to ascertain those involved in the insecurity activities so as to nip on the board for achieving a lasting peace.
In the same vein, the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Faruk Bahago thanked senator Kalu for the sympathy visit and assured to passed his message to the relevant people especially the victims’ families.
